In The Barbara Cleveland Archive the collective continue their ongoing project exploring the life and legacy of the mythic Australian artist Barbara Cleveland. This photographic series uses forms of performance and fiction to explore the ways in which live works are documented and historicised. Here fact and fiction are conflated and identities merge between the various personas of Cleveland, questioning the politics of the archive and the way we understand art history.

The Barbara Cleveland Archive was commissioned for the 2018 ADELAIDE BIENNIAL OF AUSTRALIAN ART: DIVIDED WORLDS and presented in the permanent collection of the Art Gallery of South Australia.
